Drawing on your Senses
Connect with your sense of touch in this workshop designed to develop your observation and appreciation skills through stress-free drawing activities! All drawing abilities are welcome to slow down and study the beauty of found objects and beings growing in Dufferin Grove Park. Start off with a walking meditation, followed by meditative blind contour drawings and techniques to draw texture and perspective. Enjoy the satisfaction of slowing down and focusing your attention. No supplies necessary. (Facilitated with Shaina Lehan)
Abstraction in Nature
When was the last time you imagined images in the clouds? Playfulness and stillness are both paramount to fostering joy. In this workshop, participants will explore the insight, clarity, and sense of connection that comes from these two practices. Meditation and exploring the shapes in the natural world will set the stage for creating an abstract watercolour painting. No supplies necessary. (Facilitated with Shaina Lehan)
Letting In and Letting Go
Practice going with the flow in this workshop involving the creation of ephemeral art work and collaboration by making use of the natural elements in Dufferin Grove Park and the other participants at the workshop. Start with a footpath walking meditation, followed by collecting found objects to be arranged in a site specific installation. (Facilitated with Shaina Lehan).
Noticing the Beauty of Here and Now
How many of us actually stop to smell the roses? First we need to notice that there are roses in the first place! Develop awareness of the beauty of the world around you, while increasing your photographic eye. This workshop involves walking meditation, composition and angle techniques, and lots of hands-on observation and contemplative photography to notice and capture the beauty of Dufferin Grove Park. Bring a camera (cell phone is just fine). (Facilitated with Shaina Lehan).
